Benone Beach is a recipient of the European Blue Flag and Seaside Award and a key visitor asset for the Limavady area. With seven miles of golden sand and magnificent views across to Donegal, it is a haven for nature lovers. The area is rich in flora and fauna, including many species of birds and shellfish.
Benone Beach is an attractive place for a family day out and includes picnic areas, water sports, and fishing. The visitor complex includes a supervised playground, outdoor paddling pool, golf course, campsite and an award winning caravan park.
The facilities were undergoing a major redevelopment and the council took the opportunity to rebrand and install new signage.
The signage concept arose from the brand research we had collated whilst developing a new identity for Benone. The resulting signs have a ready-made beach-shack aesthetic that takes its cue from surfing culture – a water sport popular at Benone.
The suite of signs is a combination of large arrival signs, site signs, interpretive panels and way finding posts. These sat well alongside existing dunes infrastructure and the new beach visitor centre.
