The Connswater Community Greenway was a £35 million investment in east Belfast that created a 9km linear park along the banks of the Connswater, Knock and Loop Rivers.
Following on from our work on the Connswater wayfinding and interpretation system, Image Zoo successfully tendered for the subsequent phase; the installation of naming signs along the greenway
The project was complex and wide ranging; it encompassed the extension of the CCG identity and its application to a curved tied-arch, rough sandstone walls, bronze floor plaques, listed structures, laser-cut oak, an underpass and many lampposts.
We developed a modular graphic system comprising a set of hand-drawn symbols commissioned from a local illustrator. These reflected the natural, cultural and industrial heritage of the greenway. At each named location different elements were combined to reflect the characteristics of that particular section.
We designed the sign structures, specified the materials, managed the budget, consulted during the procurement process and oversaw the manufacture and installation.
It was a big project, so keep scrolling!
